Biomedical Minimal Risk Review Processes
and Estimated Turnaround Times

New Study Applications

The Expedited Review Specialists review new applications in the order they are received in the HRPO. The turnaround time for new applications is variable, depending on the volume and complexity of applications. Please allow 4-6 weeks to obtain approval.

Minimal Risk Continuing Review Applications

Submit renewal paperwork at least six weeks in advance to ensure adequate time for review and response to contingencies, if any. Applications for Continuing Review of expedited studies are reviewed in the order they are received in the HRPO. Please be sure to allow additional time for departmental or other committee reviews that must occur prior to submitting to HRPO, such as PRMC, if applicable.

Revisions (Modifications), Advertisements, etc.

Revisions to previously approved protocols received in a given week by noon on Friday will be reviewed on the following Monday. You will receive feedback by email (questions/request for clarification) or an approval within 5 days of review.

If you have questions regarding the status of your application, please contact
